Kamal Abdel-Malek (Ph.D. Arabic Studies, McGill University, 1992) is Associate Professor of Arabic language and literature at the American University of Sharjah, UAE. He also taught at Princeton and Brown universities in the United States. He is the author of several books and articles on Arabic literature and cultural studies including his innovative two-part textbook, Talk Like an Egyptian, Walk like an Egyptian: Learning Egyptian Arabic Through Actions. Professor Abdel-Malek is the 1998-1999 recipient of Brown University’s prestigious Wriston Fellowship for excellence in teaching Arabic language and literature as well as research. |
